WOLFE ACQUIRES EASTSIDERS

Specialty Distributor Secures
Worldwide VOD and DVD Rights to Film Version of the Popular Web Series

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (January 16, 2014) — Wolfe Releasing, the world’s largest exclusive distributor of gay and lesbian films, has acquired the worldwide Digital and DVD rights to EastSiders, the feature version of the web series dubbed “funny and heartbreaking” by Entertainment Weekly. The film, based on Season 1 from writer/director/award-winning playwright Kit Williamson, reveals the aftermath of infidelity on a gay couple with heart and hilarity and will debut on VOD and DVD in summer 2014.

“Kit Williamson is a talented writer-director and we’re thrilled to be releasing his amazing new feature version of this hilarious series,” said Wolfe President Maria Lynn. “Web series and their resulting features are an important part of the way we watch entertainment today.”

“I still can’t believe the journey the show has gone on — from launching the first episode on YouTube to Wolfe picking it up for international distribution — I am floored by the response we’ve received,” said Kit Williamson. “Wolfe is an amazing company that has made an indelible mark on LGBT independent film and I think it’s incredibly exciting that they are partnering with web content creators to expose their work to a new audience.”

SYNOPSIS: Written and directed by award winning playwright Kit Williamson, EastSiders is a funny and entertaining peek into the life and friends of a gay couple in Silverlake, CA. When Cal (Kit Williamson) finds out Thom (Van Hansis) has been cheating on him with Jeremy (Matthew McKelligon), their relationship is turned upside down. Will the lies tear them apart or are they just stubborn enough to stay together forever?

EastSiders stars Kit Williamson (Ed Gifford on “Mad Men”), three-time Daytime Emmy nominee Van Hansis (“As the World Turns”), Matthew McKelligon (Interior. Leather Bar), Sean Maher (Firefly, Much Ado About Nothing), Stephen Guarino (“Happy Endings”), John Halbach (Best Friends Forever), Constance Wu (Sound of My Voice) and Traci Lords (Crybaby, Blade).

EastSiders was originally funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign after only four days. The series won the LA Weekly Award for Best Drama and is nominated for a Satellite Award in the “Original Short-Format Program” category.
